Join us on Sunday, March 24th from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. for a small-group private tour of five artists’ studios at Ti in Red Hook Brooklyn. We will drop by the workspaces of Jon Bunge, Annie Coggan, Spring Hofeldt, Katherine Keltner, and see the current solo exhibition of Elise Putnam’s work at Sweet Lorraine Gallery (in the same building). Refreshments will be served and participation is free for Domestic Museology members. Bring a friend! It’s a great way to spend a Sunday Afternoon! Register through our Eventbrite Page.

In addition to the exhibitions and gatherings we hold in our living room, the Society for Domestic Museology organizes monthly outings for our members. Some are quite casual: an impromptu visit to a gallery, a guided walk through an interesting neighborhood, or coffee and conversation around a specific topic. Some are more formal, ticketed events, such as our curated studio and gallery visits, offered at a discount to members. Our inaugural field trip was our Gowanus Studio Visit on December 2nd, 2018 and there will be many more to come in 2019. To find out about our upcoming events, subscribe to our mailing list.

Gowanus Studio Visit, December 2nd, 2018

For our first Domestic Museology Field Trip to Gowanus, we visited the studios of four artists: Karen Mainenti, Rachel Selekman, Natale Adgnot and Keun Young Park, to learn about their process and what inspires their work. We covered topics as wide-ranging as the absurdity of beauty products, the creative economy of using what you have, the practice of daily drawing, and the fragmented space between life and everything else.  These small group conversations really are the perfect way to spend a rainy weekend afternoon. Stay tuned for more in 2019!
